CataBlog Beta 1.1.8 Released

New beta released today, did a lot of testing with this one, hope it works better for people. More later, download it now.

if the category filters are not working try exporting and importing your database again, I suggest CSV format. When reimporting you should clear your database. Remember, wait for a stable release for your live sites.

10,000 Downloads Reached

Sometime yesterday CataBlog reached its ten thousandth download. This was a significant milestone I had set for myself at the beginning of this project, and I am very pleased to have reached it. Thanks to everyone for downloading, using and supporting CataBlog, the better WordPress cataloging tool. 😀

Wowzers, another CataBlog release already?

Yep, had to push another release out due to a fatal flaw in the add sub image validation. CataBlog 1.1.7 has landed, and I have good feelings about this one. Sorry about that last one everybody, this is why we call it beta software. This fix is especially important if you are not using a multisite installation of WordPress. So lets all thank Ivan for testing out the last version and try out CataBlog 1.1.7,
which I swear should work better...really...

Beta Release, CataBlog 1.1.6 Available

Well I released another beta version of CataBlog today in the quest to add multiple images per catalog item support. This version has a more refined interface, along with what I believe to be complete integration within the plugin. Support for importing and exporting sub images in CSV and XML formats has been added, along with better file handling and form validation for all image uploads. This version also includes quite a few tweaks and enhancements to the interface. All in all I feel like it is a decent pre-release and if I get a generally positive response, it will most likely be the next stable release.

So now, how does one add multiple images per catalog item? First you must create a catalog item by uploading a primary or main image along with a title. Once the catalog item has been created you will notice two links underneath the main image, Replace Main Image and [+] Add Sub Image. These links will open a form in a new floating window that allows you to either replace your main image, or add a new image to your catalog item. Once you have added a few sub images, you may change their order with drag and drop in the edit catalog item form. Make sure to click Save Changes after you change the sub images order. Deleting a sub image is even easier, move your mouse over the image you wish to delete and click the red x.

Looking forward to hearing ideas, complaints, compliments and all other feedback about this release. You may download it directly or go to the wordpress.org page to learn more. Because this is a beta release you can not download or install this version using the WordPress Admin Plugins panel.

New Beta, CataBlog 1.1.5 Available

Today I released a new beta version of CataBlog, you may download it here. This version is primarily to test the beginning of the multiple images per catalog item feature. You may add extra sub images to any item in your catalog. A sub image is any image attached to the catalog item after creation and the main image is uploaded. You may add sub images at the bottom of the edit catalog item panel. You may reorder your sub images by drag and drop and then click save as if it were any other change. The new default template, which must be updated manually, will display an item's sub images in a grid below its main, or primary, image. Also, other various updates and enhancements are included in this update, including next and previous catalog item navigation from within the admin edit panel.

CataBlog 1.1 Released

Today CataBlog has an official update, version 1.1, which offers are few fixes as well as new functionality. First off the biggest new feature is CSV format import and export. This option is perfect for Microsoft Excel buffs who want to import their spreadsheets into CataBlog. You may also export a CSV file which opens in Microsoft Excel for making large catalog changes a breeze. Other updates include a new grid template, which looks like the gallery but uses the catalog item's link. Note that the gallery template now links to the full size version of the catalog item's image. Also you may set a link relationship attributes and the frontend JavaScript and CSS code is only loaded on pages that actually have a catalog. Also there are numerous small changes and tweaks here and there. Download the new version, check it out, and let me know what you think.
Cheers 🙂
