Today I released a new beta version of CataBlog, you may download it here. This version is primarily to test the beginning of the multiple images per catalog item feature. You may add extra sub images to any item in your catalog. A sub image is any image attached to the catalog item after creation and the main image is uploaded. You may add sub images at the bottom of the edit catalog item panel. You may reorder your sub images by drag and drop and then click save as if it were any other change. The new default template, which must be updated manually, will display an item's sub images in a grid below its main, or primary, image. Also, other various updates and enhancements are included in this update, including next and previous catalog item navigation from within the admin edit panel.
Let me better explain how sub images work in the template system. There has been a new token added, %SUB-IMAGES%
which will render out in order the sub images for that catalog item. These sub images are automatically given a class of class="catablog-image catablog-subimage"
which can be used to easily override the default CSS values for sub images. In the new default template I wrap all the images, main and sub, in a <div />
tag that is floated to the left of the title and description. If this does not fit your purposes you should write a new template with custom CSS classes.
Bewarned, this version is not one hundred percent complete or certified to work. This would better be served as a test or limited capability version. For instance the sub images feature is not complete, they are not referenced for exports or imports and the forms are minimalist. If you are looking for a solid release I believe the current stable release, 1.1 will fit you needs better.
As always any feed back is appreciated, looking forward to some comments about multiple images and how to use them and what they should do.... 🙂
YESSS KUDOS! we are getting there.
